What is it about your MBA program that students love the most?

Friendly, collaborative culture, focus on coaching and mentoring

Tell us about one new course that has recently been added to your curriculum in the last year.  How do you see this influencing the current cohort?

We recently launched a Spring Intensive Series of classes that are offered over a 3 ½ day timeframe to 2nd year MBA students.  We had 4 options for students to choose from, including From Design Thinking to Doing; Turnaround Management; Achieving International Success and Sustainability for SMEs; and Communication: The Language of Leadership.  Students selected the class that most interested them and spent a short but intense amount of time focusing on that area.  This new option allowed students to take a course that they were interested in but may not have had time for in their normal course of study.

If you could invite a fictional character to lecture in one of your courses, who would it be and what course would he/she teach?  Why?

We would invite Morpheus from The Matrix.  Morpheus is known as an inspirational leader and influential teacher, a mentor and a guide.  He believes in his people and challenges their understanding of perspective and reality.

We would like him to teach a course on mentoring and mindful leadership.  He would challenge students through his probing questions and open up their eyes to many intriguing concepts.  Questions such as “What is real?”, “How do you define real?”, “I can show you the door but you’re the one that has to walk through it”, and “There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path”.  All of this relates well with our students at Kelley as we push them and coach them to figure out what they want to do, why they want to do it, and how they will tell the story and get there.
