What is it about your MBA program that students love the most?

tight-knit | experiential | career-focused | individualized | leadership | diverse | flexible | reputation | location | global

Tell us about one new course that has recently been added to your curriculum in the last year.  How do you see this influencing the current cohort?

Technology Entrepreneurship is one of many “majors” within the MBA program. As part of the major, students take part in a Venture Lab where they work to actually create and secure funding for a new product or service. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a student to combine his or her innovative ideas with the resources of The Ohio State University—including money, office space, and equipment-- as well as business partners across the country. The major and the lab itself influence the cohort by reminding them of the power they have as principled leaders (and soon-to-be MBA recipients) to change the world in ways never thought possible. The experience is deeply challenging, yet incredibly empowering. (As a side note, students may also create their own majors, electing to emphasize focus areas which align with their professional development goals.)

If you could invite a fictional character to lecture in one of your courses, who would it be and what course would he/she teach?  Why?

We would invite Brutus Buckeye to teach our “Business of College Sports” course in our new sports management specialization.  Brutus would bring first-hand knowledge about how engagement, big data, and brand each play a critical role in the business of sports.

Ohio State University Fisher College of Business

The Fisher MBA is an intentionally small program which leverages the unparalleled resources of one of the largest business colleges and universities in the country, as well as one of the largest and most active alumni networks. It retains a tight-knit and intimate sense of community—while emphasizing an experiential and individualized approach. We do not believe “one size fits all” and instead work to understand our students’ professional and personal goals—and work with them to achieve those goals. We also have deep relationships in Columbus, the 15th-largest city in the country home to several Fortune 500 companies.
